BMW 6-speed automatic transmission is the German ZF (ZF) production of 6HP series products, its design and manufacturing process is precise, the torque converter adopts a soldered fixed locking clutch.

 

ZF's 6HP series transmission is divided into 2 generations: 2002-2005 is the first generation of 6HP transmission, including 6HP19, 6HP26, 6HP32; 2006 and later are the second generation of 6HP gearboxes, including 6HP21, 6HP28, 6HP34.

The 6HP19 Transmission Solenoid Valve computer TCM of the ZF6HP can adjust the oil circuit control to a certain extent through the solenoid valve, so in many cases, it can be replaced by using the original new 6HP19 transmission Solenoid Valve or the old solenoid valve in good condition without reprogramming the TCM. It is only necessary to note that the solenoid valve cannot be mixed, for example, the solenoid valve originally installed in the #1 position must also be located in the #1 position when the valve body is reinstalled, and cannot be installed in other positions, although they look the same from the outside. The reason for this is that the TCM has memorized the flow rate of the solenoid valve at the original location. In principle, any repairs to the gearbox will need to reset or erase the data memorized by the KAM.

 

Do not test the solenoid valve through the 16-pin joint. Need to remove the circuit board, and then check the resistance value of the solenoid valve, the standard is at 20 degrees Celsius resistance value of 5.05 ohms.
